in September we started our weekly visits with the baby doctor
on the 5th I went in and the doctor
said you could have her at any time.
that of course made me really anxious and excited...
however....
nothing happened.
on the 12th we met with a different doctor and
no progress had been made since my last visit
so I was really frustrated.
so then my due date (Saturday the 14th) came and went
and you guessed it NOTHING HAPPENED!
my next doctors appointment was on Thursday the 19th.
and once again there was NO change.
so we did a quick ultrasound just to make sure everything was ok.
everything looked great and the doctor confirmed that it was a girl
since we weren't 100% positive.
since I wasn't seeming to progress, they scheduled me to go in
for an induction the next night at 7 pm.
-Friday-
first thing that morning, be prepared for too much information,
I lost my mucus plug.
that was exciting because at least something was happening now.
mom, megan, payson, and austyn travelled down to
be with us for the big arrival.
then at 5 pm we got the VERY disappointing phone call
that said the labor and delivery floor was full and they couldn't induce
me that night.
so they told me to come in the next night at 7 pm.
-Saturday-
again, too much info coming your way, I was leaking some sort of something...
I had read that when your water breaks
it can either gush out or trickle out, so I wasn't for sure if my water was
breaking or if I was still losing my mucus plug.
so we called the doctor's office and they said to come in so they can
check things out.
so around noon we went in
and my water hadn't broke and
I wasn't dilated anymore.
but the nurse said that her head was right there and suggested
it would be better if we came in at 6:30 the next morning to get started.
so we left the hospital frustrated that yet again everything was getting pushed back.
all of us decided to go for a 4 lap walk around Washington Park and just
hang out together while we pasted time.
later that day dad, jamie, abby, rylee, and maycie
made it to Laramie to wait things out with us.
we had a good night being together.
once we finally settled in for the night I started having contractions.
we debated a lot whether we should go in.
about an hour worth of contractions we finally decided to go in.
-Sunday-
(sorry because the rest of this post is going to be a long long list of the events)
we arrived at the hospital a little after midnight,
we got all checked in and settled down.
the contractions were getting harder and more often.
I was definitely ready for an epidural,
but I had to wait for a full IV to go through me, so once that was gone
we just had to wait for the lady to come in and give me the good stuff.
the nurse told me I could get up and walk around for a bit if I wanted.
so I went to the bathroom and walked around for a bit,
when I got back to bed and all hooked back up they noticed that
the baby's oxygen level was down really low.
most nerve racking thing of my life.
I think I was most nervous because they told me that I might
not be able to get an epidural because me sitting up might send the baby in distress again.
but we tried once the baby was settled and LUCKILY it went perfect.
then they let us be so we could get some good rest in.
around 6:30 my mom and dad showed up to the hospital to wait it out with us.
they checked me and I was dilated to a SIX!!
at around 8:00 the doctor came into check me again and
I was dilated to an 8, so he broke my water so things would really start going.
at around 9:00 we were ready to rock and roll.
after an hour and a half of pushing
at 10:50am little miss madyn gillies made her grand entrance into this world.
she was 8 lbs. 2 oz. and 20 inches long.
the first 24 hours of her life she was under an oxygen hood because she
was having trouble transitioning from the womb to the real world.
it was pretty sad because she had to say in the nursery and couldn't be held.
Carilyn, Tony, Tyson, Megan, Austyn and Payson all had to leave
that day so missy girl really wasn't able to meet most of her family that came to visit her.

-Monday-
she was finally put on the nose oxygen!
we were SO excited because she was able to come into our room
and we were FINALLY able to hold her!
Jamie and her girls were able to stay till Monday so they were
able to come be with us again at the hospital and hold her.
-Tuesday-
she was finally off the iv and all the oxygen!
we were so excited!!!
since all her cords and monitors were gone
she was finally able to have her first bath.
dad was travelling home from Denver so he was able to stop in and visit us as well.
we had to wait out most of the day in the hospital to make sure that she was definitely well
adjusted and ready to go home.
at 5:00 that night we were finally able to head home!
the week before Madyn was born Carilyn and Tony put all three of our
names on the prayer roll at the temple.
and that is why we think our date kept getting pushing back.
we truly believe that we were not supposed to be induced for reasons unknown.
we are so grateful that she is happy and healthy
and apart of our family!
just a thought...
our little sweet Madyn has been such a blessing in our lives.
we love her so much!
our long September was definitely worth the wait!
we are so lucky to have a
beautiful
new addition at our house!
