Estes, RMNP, Hair Cuts and Family Time!

the start of our week was pretty rough...
eric worked a double on sunday and so it was just me and little miss...
and miss madyn was SO CRANKY!
like over the top, nasty awful fit, CRANKY!
to make her attitude even worse i had a fireside and calling stuff
to do so she wasnt too happy to tag along.
monday seemed to turn around her mood a bit...

she really does crack me up...
love the little things i find on my phone!
since she was acting better i promised her that we could
go get her new favorite treat...
icecream and fries!

seriously where does this girl come from that she wont anything normal
but will eat some weird combination of food???
(another weird combo that we have had this past little bit is mac and cheese
with berry kix on top.... and she loved it)
tuesday eric had the day off so we planned on going to estes park
and the rocky mountain national park.
we took a few different trails then before and covered some territory.

mads obviously didnt enjoy the waterfalls too much...
they were TOO LOUD!
the first half of the trip was a little slow...
we really werent seeing too many animals.
but we were ecstatic to see these two...

especially since on our first trip we didnt see any moose.
we then stopped and enjoyed a picnic and went on a short little hike.
the hike really wasnt anything to write home about... maybe if we kept going
we would have seen some better views.

the way back on trail ridge road we were laughing about how
mr texas was pretty scared of the ridge...
(who am i kidding, i dont blame him... the edge freaks me out too)

there is something about trail ridge road that i find absolutely mesmerizing.
it's views like that (and you probably have to experience it in person to understand)
just how majestic of a world we live in and how small we really are in this universe.
one of those views that show that their is a God- and there is no doubt about it.
on our way back we started seeing a few animals...
it was about dang time!

we finished our trip in the park at the alluivan fan.
madyn liked this waterfall a lot more...
aparently it was a lot more quieter.
 :)

on our way out of estes we spotted this six point just hanging out
at the local dog park.
you cant see in these pictures but there are things
in here for dogs to climb and play on...
madyn was pretty upset she couldnt go in there and play...
my little scardy cat to any animal thinks it's no big deal to go
hang out with a monster of an elk...

wednesday mads had her play date and last dance class of the summer session.
the rest of the week i contemplated driving down to the valley
so i could go to grandma cliften's 80th birthday party.
it wasnt till friday morning that i decided that we were going to make the trip down.
but before we left i wanted to go get her hair cut...
what a difference over 4 inches of hair makes....

she absolutely ADORES her new hair cut!
i showed her a picture of a bob on my phone before it got cut
and she didn't like it too much... but i decided to go ahead and do it anyways.
she was over the moon with how much she liked it.
after her cut we decided to take off and not tell anyone about her hair
or that we were coming to visit.
mom and dad were coming home from lander area and were going
to stop in rock springs so dad could go to a gun show.
so i spilled the beans to them and met up with them in rock springs.
madyn was so excited to show mi mi her hair!
on the way to see them she kept giggling and saying
mi mi is going to love my crazy hair!
me and mom hung out while dad was in the gun show, and then
we all went out to eat a little later.
when we got to the house madyn was finally able to get her pink gun!

dad gives his grandkids a little cricket when they are potty trained.
and quite honestly it was the best bribe for miss mads.
she LOVES that gun!
when she first got it one of the first things she said was
"mom i think it needs batteries!"
we went and surprised the gillies' family
and madyn was super excited to surprise them too.
saturday we headed down to provo canyon to have a birthday
party for my grandma cliften.

it was such a beautiful day and a perfect area for the party.
(i didnt even mind moms silly games we played :)
the kids loved playing in the little river and in all the trees.

it was so nice and shallow, and just a nice little lazy river.
after we headed home and did a buffet of Chinese food at mom and dads
with the sisters and their families
it was a perfect way to end the week.
