the beginning of the week was crazy busy running around trying to get
things done just in case ty decided it was time to make his grand entrance.
grocery shopping... walking, walking, walking, visiting teaching... cleaning...
it was a busy couple of days.
Wednesday was a crazy day for me!
lots to do and get done!
we had orientation for madyn at head start.
we had a bit of paperwork to fill out before the next year.
after that was all said and done we had to get going to madyn's dance class.
madyn's has a new teacher, ms Stephanie and we are so grateful for her.
we absolutely love and adored miss Lexie so we are so thrilled to have another
great teacher for mads.
it made miss Lexi leaving a lot easier for our little miss.
after dance class we ran straight to young womens.
luckily they were working on camp first aide so I didn't have much to do,
just had to be there.
I had been feeling uncomfortable most of the day... and as the night went
on I started to wonder whether tonight would be the night we would go into the hospital.
when we had gotten home from young womens and gotten ready for bed I warned
Eric that I had been contracting, but still nothing too big to count...
when we got into bed I knew it was time to start timing.
we started out about 8-9 minutes apart for about a good hour.
I figured about another hour and they would go to 5 minutes apart and then
we could head into the hospital.
shortly after I got up to go to the bathroom and then they hit 2-3 minutes apart and STRONG.
so we hurried and called Tyson to come stay with madyn and then headed to the hospital.
we got there around midnight and I was pretty miserable.
when we got up to my room and all changed they checked me right off and I
was already dilated to an eight.
and all I wanted was an epidural!
but they warned me that it was probably too late and chances are that I wouldn't get one.
I was soooo miserable and the thought of having to give birth without one was super daunting.
I was definitely not prepared mentally to do it.
at 2am I was finally able to get one.
I felt soooo much better!
they told me they were going to wait till about 3 to see how we were
so that ty had an hour to make his way down.
at a quarter to 3 my nurse told me we were just going to do a quick test push
to see where we were at.
as soon as I started to push she told me to stop and she was going to get the dr Hoffman.
he came in and started to get dressed in his gown when I started to crown.
he told me to wait for the next contraction and then push.
but by then ty had just pretty much came out all on his own...
in fact we were kind of surprised the doctor actually caught him....
(both me and Eric talked later about how we thought he was going to drop him.)
so Ty James Gillies was born on May 25 at 2:59am.
he weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and was 19 3/4 inches long.
we made it home later that afternoon.
it was a pretty gloomy and cold rainy day.
madyn was pretty excited to have her brother home for good.
I think it's an understatement to say that we had a busy week...
but it was perfect.
and I am soooo overwhelmingly blessed with such a great husband,
two beautiful children,
such amazing friends and family.
my heart is soooo full!

he weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and was 19 3/4 inches long.
our sweet baby was soooo mellow.
we didn't cry at all when he came out... in fact it made me super nervous that
he wasn't breathing, like madyn did when she was born.
but they watched him really closely and he was perfect... just didn't want to cry I guess.
he also started to nurse right away.
he was already rooting and making sucking noises when they were cleaning him
off and getting him all measured.
they could tell he had been sucking on his hand in the womb
and he was ready to eat.
they also figured that the little mr was probably older then his estimated gestational age.
his skin was already peeling really bad
and something about my placenta had qualities of being older.
so instead of being 5 days early, he was really probably late.
with the labor and delivery floor being soooo busy they quickly bathed him
and moved us to another room so they could accommodate more women.
(it was a record night for that hospital on the amount of babies born).
it was a crazy morning calling everyone to tell them the news.
Eric left and took madyn straight to preschool since we were up all night,
so we could at least get some sleep.
Carilyn got into town a little afternoon and her and Eric went to pick up mads so that
she could finally meet her baby brother!
she was beyond thrilled!
she just kept saying how cute he was, :)
and then she would sing to him,
it was so special to me to see them together.
also... check out those crazy monkey toes and feet!
friday morning we were very anxious to get home and out of the hospital.
we were hoping that since it had been so busy... and we were the first to deliver...
they would get us out of there pretty quick.
but, we were wrong...
ty had an ultrasound first thing in the morning to check out his kidneys.
(they showed slight dilation while he was in my womb and they wanted to make
sure that it was correcting itself)
and then the doctor didn't even get there till after 2 to give him his circumcision,
and then we knew they would want us there for another hour just to keep
an eye on him to make sure he was ok.
it was a long day in the hospital!
but seriously can I just say what a good little stinker we have....
he didn't cry at all at the hospital!
not during his shots or blood work or even his circumcision.
we made it home later that afternoon.

madyn was pretty excited to have her brother home for good.
we had lots of visitors from the ward,
mark and brandy's family, and the Meeks family
come see our sweet little boy.
Saturday morning Mom, Dad, Tony and the Hysell family (minus James)
made it into town.
we had such a good day snuggling the little one,
chit chatting, eating and being together.
it was a lot of company to have the first few days home
but we loved every moment of it.
that evening all the cousins left and went swimming at their hotel
and they let madyn go with them.
she had sooo much fun with them all.
she sure loves her cousins!
