homeward bound.

ever see that movie homeward bound?
ya know with the 2 dogs and a cat.
where they get left at someones house
while the family goes on a vacation
and the dogs and cat decided to find their way home.
and they have all these problems while
getting there???
well a few weeks ago i honestly felt like i was in their position.

i was able to head home for 5 days a few weeks ago
so i could get all caught up with doctor appointments and medications
and all that other crap.
i had the funnest time being with my family.
we went to utah and had lots of fun
planning my upcoming wedding (post soon to come)
i loved being with my nieces and nephews.
they make my heart just melt every time i am with them.
i love my family more then anything.

-favorite quote while being home-
we went to pick up austyn from megans
in laws when we got back into town one night.
poor payson was just soo tired of the car
and was fussing.
megan and austyn get into the car
and my little austyn with her sassy little attitude says
"oh pays, be quiet!"
laughed my butt off.

i was supposed to head back to laramie on monday
but unfortunately enough roads were closed from rawlins to laramie.
they opened up about 4 in the afternoon
but the webcams still looked awful
and my mom and boss didnt want me travelling in that weather.
so i waited to go tuesday.
i got up and the roads were closed once again.
my dad told me to get to rawlins just in case they opened up.
i took a good supply of food and water
and headed out.
i got to rawlins about 11 in the morning and just waited around.
luckily the subway that i parked at had wifi
so i watched hulu so i wouldnt be tooo bored.
i made me a bed in the back of my jeep with the levi
blanket that had been stashed back there since the denver game
me and eric went to.

i napped, watched hulu, played on the computer, and just straight up relaxed.
buttttttt.... unfortunately the roads were still not opening.
luckily another girl from the valley had been travelling back to laramie too
and she had gotten a hotel room.
YAY for not having to sleep in my car lol:)
wednesday morning the roads finally opened and i was able to head home
i never felt sooo happy to get back into laramie.

the roads were still pretty awful.
way worse then this picture can even show.
but i just took it slow
and jammed out to some old destiny's child and toby keith.
man dont i just live the life ;)

just a thought...
what's life without some crazy adventures right?!?

one off the bucketlist.

during eric's mission we decided that with
each letter that we sent we would add one thing that we wanted
to do on our bucket list.
we accomplished one of those in laradise.
ice skating.
we actually did really good.
untillllll......
i lost footing or something or other
and i fell
really hard.....
it hurt
really bad.......
but in all honesty
it was freaking hilarious.
holding eric's hand while iceskating defanitaly
meant that he was coming down with me.
so me and him just laid on the ice for a few minutes and just laughed
our butts off.
i have so much fun with him.
:) :) :)

all i can say is i live a pretty great life:D

just a thought...
dont hold hands while you iceskate...
unless you want to be brought down by your partner
:P

super bowl = me super bored

first off...
can i just point out something?!?
hiccups are freaking ANNOYING!
i have had them on and off all day and i swear
my back is going to be thrown out because of them lol.
topic i mainly want to focus on right now is...
dun da da dun
the super bowl.....
let me just tell you flat out right now
i HATE the super bowl
yes i said it, i HATE it.
the only day of the year where a man will
sit 3-4 hours and not even think about changing the channel
i hate.
especially this year....
well any year that the patriots are in it...
so yeah i guess basically always then ;)
i hate them.
i hate all the hype about tom brady
i hate bill belichick and his stupid sweater he always wears.
i hate chad "ochocinco" and his cockiness,
i hate the "bandwagon" fans
if your a true patriot fan, then great.
however probably a good half are just fans because they are a
fairly decent team most of the time.
here is my little speech for you....
be a fan of a team
love them and support them good and bad seasons.
alright ill get off my high horse now.
*mom if you are reading, you can skip this part*
*remember im sweet and innocent*
i do however have to say every time
that danny WOODHEAD would make a play
and the announcers commentated on it
i laughed my butt off.
im sorry but i will never grow up.
((sooo i even tried google-imaging a pict of him and hopefully
getting a back pict of him with his name on his jersey....
*noting full well that it probably wasnt in my
best interest googling 'danny woodhead'
for fear of other images that may go by that ironic name.
and this it what came up for me))

im sorry but this does not help
with all my laughter lol.
im usually not one for all the super bowl commercials either
however i do salute this ad.
i have seriously watch it 10 times today on youtube
and quite honestly it really never gets
old to me....
it seriously makes me laugh hard core.

in the famous words of my gal Glozell
"It must be Black History Month the Brown M&M finally got a commercial. Thanks Obama!"
bahahahaha i do love her.
another comment from her after the david beckham commercial for hm.
"David Beckham commercial in his underdraws, he is FINE!
David has a lot of tattoos, good cuz I like my men colored. LOL"

alright anyways im done with this super bowl rant...

can i just lay this out there.
i have had a veryyyy productive day today.
today is my day off
soooo
i have major cleaned my cute little apartment,
also my purse and desk drawers,
did mine and eric's laundry,
washed, dried, folded and put away,
made banana bread and chocolate covered strawberries.
and it's only 3:30.
let me just say this....
i am pretty proud of myself...
just call me heidi homemaker.

anyways happy monday:)
hope it's a good one

just a thought...
i need a cure for hiccups
so if you have one
pleazzze share.
thanks
:)

5 Blog Posts all Mashed into 1

im slacking hard core on my blog.
it's terrible.
anywho... shall we get caught up yet again....
my family had a wonderful christmas together.
i love when all my babies are together.

the grand kids all got bikes for christmas.
they all loved riding them out in the garage.

i love christmas time
the wonderful feeling and smell in the air.
everything just seems to be happy
and i like it.

i loved mine and eric's first christmas together since he has been home.
in high school, we would always end christmas
at his house. watching a movie with his family......
i missed that a lot.
this year eric made me the most amazing levi quilt.
i will love that thing forever!
here's some more pictures from christmas:)

new year's eve and new years
(i regret to say that i don't have any picts)
we spent most of our time hanging out at the gillies house
all of eric's family was up for his homecoming
we had fun watching football, playing cards, talking and watching movies.
eric's homecoming was on new years day.
he did an awesome job.
i was extremely proud of him.
i NEVER get tired of hearing about all his experiences on his mission.
i love that he was able to go and serve the Lord for those 2 years
as much as i HATE to admit that we needed those 2 years apart....
i really think that it was the best thing for us.
he was able to experience things that he never would have otherwise.
be immersed in a different culture, meet amazing people,
and learn a different language.
he was able to be a blessing to more people's lives instead of just mine.

i was able to get out of my comfort zone and really put myself out there,
meet new people, focus more on my education,
and do some really crazy stupid things.

we both were able to focus more on ourselves separately instead of as a couple.
dont get me wrong. i practically thought of eric every second i could
i missed him more then i ever thought was possible.
but i was also able to witness first hand that
absence really does make the heart grow fonder.
i was able to see that i wanted him to be with me for the rest of my life.
im proud of the missionary he was.
then...... dun du du dunnnn
on january 6 we had a new baby come into the erickson family
meet payson james meeks

he is such a sweet baby.
i do feel a little shafted though....
i have only met him once while he was in the hospital.
because the day after he was born, me and eric moved down to laramie.
i love that little guy a lot.
im so lucky to be able to be his aunt as well as my other nieces and nephew
i cherish those babies more then anything in this world.
after me and eric moved down here
we decided to take a road trip down to denver
to see if we could get into the denver/ steeler's playoff game.
we ended getting AWESOME tickets at a great price
this was our view
9 rows from the field

it was one of the best days EVER!
rascal flatts sang the national anthem.
it was an amazing game. we won on the first play of OT.
the stadium was crazy.
good food. good seats. good entertainment.
i loved every minute.

we then got champs autograph and saw my hottilicious tebow.
all of this with my bestie.
pretty awesome day if you ask me.

also while living in laramie...
i finally got myself a job.
i work as the front desk receptionist at the grease monkey here.
i really do like my job a lot.
i like the mechanics and the tasks that i do each day.
there are two things i really dont care for about the job and they are
1. having to drive people's cars into the bays
ok i have some advice to everyone out there.......
CLEAN YOUR CARS!
i mean run a vacuum through them, wipe up your pop if it spills
also... if your car has an unusual smell, get an air freshener.
seriously i have never seen so many disgusting cars in my life.
and 2. the uniform.... i feel like a thug
right now im wearing the smallest uniform that they have
a 10... wearing a 10 when you normally wear 0-3s
makes you look like a gangster.
im constantly pulling up my pants.
its the least unattractive thing you will ever see.
other then that it's wonderful and i love my job.

living far away from home again always makes me home sick for my family.
i sure do love them a lot if you cant tell.
eric makes laramie feel so much more at home for me.
i am sooo lucky to have him in my life.
i love fixing him dinner and doing the dishes together.
i love when he surprises me with my favorite flowers, orchids.
as for right now, life is good.
i wouldnt want it any other way.

just a thought....
let me just ask you this one question....
does life really get much better???
cuz i really dont think it does.
:)

-*NoVeMbEr*-
started with baby maycie's blessing.
she looked sooo cute and precious :)

for thanksgiving i worked so i have no fun family pictures or anything
to show of the holiday.
one thing is for sure though i live a pretty great life.
im thankful for my friends and family that make me smile each day.
i love them a lot.
at the end of the month kaprena and tawni were passing through
on their way back to rexburg.
we went to temple square and walked around.
i miss my rexburg family a lot.
it was soooo good to be with them even just for a little bit.

-*DeCeMbEr*-
at the beginning of the month
i said goodbye to walmart and heber.
before my last night two of my cashiers took me out to eat dinner
meet luz and stephanie.

my other overnight CSM sammy and daytime CSM andrea
my last night at work.
sammy and i had some good times working together
and getting to know each other.
i love her a lot!

me and sammy again with our cashier deb.
deb and i went through orientation together and were
partnered to work together while getting ready for the grand opening
of heber's walmart.
she was the first person who i got to really know in heber
she is an amazing lady and i think of her everyday.
she was always there when i needed someone to talk to and
always giving me advice when i needed it.

me and andrea again.
i love this girl A LOT! i loved working with her
when i had the chance.

as much as i thought that i really hated heber,
i really did love it more then i realized.
i LOVED living with micah casey and jett.
it was the hardest thing packing up my stuff and leaving.
i loved the people that i worked with.
spending time with the same 30ish people from 10pm-7am
most nights brings you all pretty close together.
they were my own little family when i wasnt around my own.

on the 3rd of december i was back in wyoming,
just trying to stay busy before the big day came when eric returned home.
my girls even danced in a recital. i was sooo proud of them!

they did pretty awesome :)
then i had the BEST day EVER.
december 9 was for sure the best day of 2011 for this girl.
im pretty sure you couldnt have wiped the smile off my face no matter
how hard you tried.
my favorite missionary elder eric gillies
returned home from the brazil salvador mission

im sooo glad that he is finally home!
being back with him couldnt be any better.
it's like he never left.
since he has been home we have been spending
every second we can together. :)

this was the last picture we took together before he left

and then when he got home

looks like we havent changed too much huh.
the past two years were hard.
but i had sooo many good times along the way.
like....
working with sam, liz, mary, raelynn, jenny, davina,
and many other great people in the bakery/ deli.
going to hawaii. swimming with dolphins and eating the best shrimp ever!
micah and caseys wedding
cocoa bean trips with amy.
sledding with chris and chelsea. studying with them in the library.
and being the only ones laughing in a packed theater during Easy A.
going to the byu-i center dedication.
sharing a room with kaprena for two semesters. listing to her sleep talk.
practical homemaking with ann.
millhallow trips with tawni.
yellowstone. cabin. and best friends.
helicopter rides and lava hot springs.
birthday parties with 999 paper cranes and
balloons that covered our apartment floor.
playing poker and watching flight of the conchords.
graduating byui.
family vacation to yellowstone and jackson hole.
moving to heber. having great roomies. and a good job. making new friends.

all that i wouldnt trade for anything.
i cant wait to see what the future holds for me.
so stay tuned...
i have a feeling it's just getting good
and only going to get better
 :)

just a thought....
im grateful for all i have.
and the wonderful people that bless my life each day

yep. i have a pretty good life.
